Aimee White and colleagues analyzed data from 148 undergraduates to assess the degree to which university students spend time playing electronic games and the consequences of their doing so. While academic consequences were negligible, romantic consequences were more problematic. Almost a third (32.9%) of the female respondents reported being upset by their romantic partners’ video game playing to the point of telling the partner they spent too much time playing video games. If this is a chronic issue in your relationship, talk with your partner about it and ask for more time together. If you need help, free SKYPE counseling is available from Heartchoice.com.
