Cheating Partner? Reactions to discovering one's partner is cheating
Heather Barnes is an undergraduate sociology student at East Carolina University. She, along with two colleagues, conducted a new study via a 47 item Internet questionnaire on reactions to a partner’s cheating. Over half (51%) of 244 undergraduates reported that their romantic partner had cheated on them- had sexual intercourse with someone else. Feeling betrayed, crying, confronting the partner, telling friends, and ending the relationship were the top five reactions. Most did not automatically end the relationship.
